Atma: A Roleplaying Card Game

A full-fledged RPG in 2 hours. For roleplaying novices and experts alike.

Welcome to a world near our own. The volcanic mineral atma empowers the living and entwines the dying, while artificial intelligence and alien titans join humanity in this daunting new century. Yet in the Restless Zones, beyond society and law, trouble lurks. Gather your fellow adventurers and prepare to test yourself against the world’s most dangerous frontiers. The sky’s getting darker…

Atma
is a complete roleplaying game in a tiny package. It’s portable, quick to set up and teach, and plays in just 2 hours — perfect for game nights or pop-up sessions! A Game Master and 1-4 players use illustrated tarot cards to fuel RPG gameplay focused on creativity and quick thinking. Atma excels as a tutorial for first-time GMs who’ve always wanted to run an RPG, while also allowing limitless creativity for roleplaying pros.

Atma
is played with a stage deck, character decks, two dice and a few tokens. Everything you need to play is included in the standalone Interlude I box.

If you want more backdrops and characters to explore, the Act I box has you covered, featuring 3 stages and 8 characters.

As the Game Master, or GM, one player runs the show. They select a stage and break it into 6 decks: backdropstories, scenesextrasprops, and twists.

The backdrop card shows the players where they’ll be exploring. A random story card tells them their overarching goal. Throw out three scene cards, flip the first one over, and you’re ready to start!

As you play, you’ll earn tokens — when scenes start, and when players fail rolls. Spend tokens to play more cards, or to do things with your existing cards. The rest is completely up to you!

GM play area with cards: backdrop, story, 3 scenes, 2 extras, and 1 prop.

As a player, you’ll grab a character deck — just 8 cards — and lay out 4 of them: your character itself, two moves, and one super move. It’s that easy! You can read your character’s lore, found on the card backs, then introduce your hero to the group and explain why you’re here.

Play is simple: narrate what you do! If it makes sense, you can do it. If there’s a chance of failure, you’ll roll dice and see what happens. You may succeed — or the GM may get to decide the outcome instead.

Working together, you’ll complete scene goals and unlock new moves as you race to finish the story and overcome whatever the GM throws at you!

Player play area with cards: character, 2 moves, super move, and reference.
