The Pet Cemetery

Chain cards together to outwit, outplay, and race your friends to the end in this light 30-min pet monster themed board game.

The Pet Cemetery is a fast-paced tabletop board game for 2 to 6 players that is easy to learn, quick to set-up, and fun for all ages making it a perfect option for family gatherings, parties, and game nights.

Players race their way across the board one strategic move at a time as they battle pet monsters, search for treasure, dodge traps, activate abilities, and do whatever it takes to keep the other players from being the first to find a set of handcuffs and cross the finish line.

It’s a stormy autumn evening and something is amiss in the local pet cemetery.

Mr. Mittens – a yellow-eyed and particularly sour tabby – has had an unfortunate encounter with a pickup truck on the darkened highway nearby. Driven to madness by the loss of her life-long companion, Professor Esker has locked herself in an abandoned crypt and is undertaking dark experiments in an attempt to bring Mr. Mittens back to life. But as her experiments grow more powerful in her desperation, the ground in the cemetery outside begins to stir, and it appears it is not only Mr. Mittens that has started to rise…

As the remains of beloved pets of the past terrorize the village below, the Mayor sets an irresistible reward for the Professor’s arrest. Now, as a brave few from the Village make their way to its darkened gates, it’s a race through the hazards and monsters of The Pet Cemetery as they compete to be the first to reach the crypt, stop the Professor, and collect the Mayor’s bounty.

Will it be you?

The standard play area is set-up using 3 board tiles: the “start” board, the “end” board, and 1 of the available “middle” board tiles. Each game set includes 3 unique middle board tiles to choose from so consecutive games feel fresh and keep players on their toes. Place the professor standee at the finish line.

The game board tiles include a variety of action spaces that allow players to spawn and move pet monsters into the path of their opponents, search for treasure, and keep themselves safe from attacks as they navigate their way across the board and attempt to hinder the progress of their opponents:

Hex – When you land in a hex tile spawn a pet monster on any other hex tile on the board. A pet monster cannot spawn on an occupied tile.

Safe — Pet monsters cannot enter this tile. While in this tile, you are protected from all pet monster attacks.

Monster Move — Landing on this tile allows you to move 1 pet monster on the board to any directly adjacent tile, not diagonal. Even into another player.

Pit — No-one (players or pet monsters) can move into these tiles, you must navigate around a Pit tile or use a jump card to jump over this tile.

Treasure — When you land on this tile draw 2 cards from the deck, choose one and return the other card to the top of the deck.

Blank— Nothing exciting happens here. Take a moment and catch your breath.

Characters – Each player is randomly dealt one of the 10 unique character cards and places the matching character token in the starting zone. Each character card has a unique ability that bestows players a special advantage over their opponents. Pay close attention to your opponents’ abilities because you can only use your unique ability once per game!

The Treasure Deck is made up of a multitude of items, weapons and abilities that players can use to hinder their competitors, defeat pet monsters, or cheat their way to the end. Cards can be chained together to create amazing combos that allow players to maximize each turn. Make sure you plan ahead to search enough treasure to find a set of handcuffs as they are required to capture the Professor and win the game.

This looks like a fun game for sure. KS launches very close to my birthday. Coincidence? I think not.
